CORFE CRUSADERS 57
TEAM WAIKIKI 16
CORFE Crusaders stormed to a 57-16 victory over Team Waikiki in the South & West Dorset League Premier Division meeting.
Both teams started well, with Waikiki’s GS Hayley Rooks shooting very accurately.
Corfe, however, picked up several interceptions and were able to convert these into goals, taking an early lead.
Corfe moved the ball down court quickly, although good interceptions from Waikiki GD Leah Stockley and GK Vicki Bartliff meant Corfe had to show patience when getting the ball into their shooters.
Despite making changes in the shooting circle at half-time, Corfe C Sammy Whisker still managed to make some superb long passes into GS Rhiannon Carter in the third quarter.

In the final quarter, Corfe used controlled passing across court to maintain their lead. Despite still coming up with interceptions, Waikiki could not catch Corfe, and they took the win.
THE VETERANS’ HUB 49
McCARTHY STONE 10
VETERANS’ Hub continued their strong Premier form with a 49-10 success over McCarthy Stone.
Veterans showed strength and dominance early in this game, particularly in attack and from GS Lauren Leatherland.
Veterans continued to make good use of space down court, McCarthy GD Lauren Osgood began to step up in the second quarter. Their dominance meant Veterans led 18-5 at half-time.
Increasing their speed of play in the second half, McCarthy unfortunately just could not keep up with Veterans.
They put up a good fight, but Veterans continued to dominate until the end of the game and took another big win.
EXE TRAINING 19
LULWORTH LIGHTNING 34
LULWORTH Lightning led from start to finish, beating Exe Training 34-19 in Division One.
Lulworth dominated the first quarter, with strong interceptions, nice movement from GS Sam Shewbridge and dynamic play across court.
In the second quarter, Exe worked well to create and move into space. Despite this, intense defensive pressure from Lulworth, particularly GK Becky Cousins, allowed them to come up with intercepts and maintain their lead.
Lulworth showed no signs of fatigue in the third quarter, and were attacking with lots of drive, while Exe C Zoe Lindsay stepped up, in both defence and attack.
Exe fought back in the final quarter, as they increased the speed of play and determination in defence.
Despite this, and excellent long-range shooting from Exe GA Ellie Donoghue, Lulworth dominated the scoreline in what was still a well-contested game.
WJNC WAVES 30
SANDSFOOT SIRENS 39
IN THE closest of our featured games, Sandsfoot Sirens held off WJNC Waves 39-30 in Division Two.
Sandsfoot started off very strong, with their centre court players sending the ball straight in to GS Ali Holmes.
Waves’ defending improved throughout quarter, especially their GK Maisie Jackson-Lowe. Both teams worked well together, which made for a close first quarter.
Waves C Megan Tinsley and Sandsfoot C Jess Rocket found good space across court. The game became faster, with the ball constantly moving from one end to the other.
Sandsfoot did well in the second quarter to win the ball back in defence and they extended their lead by half-time.
In the third quarter, Waves used a variety of passes to work around the strong Sandsfoot defence. Both teams had now steadied the pace, making for cleaner play, particularly in Sandsfoot’s attack.
Despite using their agility to their advantage to win possession, and their shooters Frankie Eversen and Niamh Seeley working well together, Waves were unable to take the lead from Sandsfoot.
In the final quarter, Sandsfoot remained calm and controlled, keeping possession and holding their lead until the final whistle.
