DESPITE reaching the semi-finals of the EWBA Walker Cup last year Dorset have changed an entire rink for their first match in this season's competition.
The foursome of Anne Chislett (Greenhill), Jenny Andrews (Wimborne), Penny Cresswell (Poole Park) and skip May Jenkins, who lost 22-12 to Hertfordshire at Leamington Spa in the double-rink championship, have all been replaced but the selectors have kept faith with Pamela Daters (Bridport), Freda Yates (Bland-ford), Margaret Clapp (Bridport) and Poole Park skip Rosemary Spetch who won their contest 26-18.
Supporting Spetch for the first-round match against Somerset at Lyme Regis tomorrow (1.30pm) are Val Baxter (West Moors), Lyn Howard (Broadstone), Sue Jennings (Dorch-ester) and Greenhill skip Sheila Baker.
It is a tough start for Dorset but if they show the resilience that carried them to the last four in 2007 they can overcome their old foe. Before the double-rink clash the teams meet today at Castle Cary in the South West Counties League.
Dorset have named several new faces in the Johns Trophy team to play Herefordshire at Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, on Tuesday (1.30pm).
Among them are Carol Baker and Julie Corbin, who both qualified for the national stages of the EWBA fours with Dorchester last year, and Sheena Willis of Wellworthy who played so consistently without the reward of a trip to Leamington Spa in 2007.
There is a recall for the county's senior vice-president Joan Taylor of Gillingham who showed her versatility during the winter by reaching the quarter-finals of the national short-mat fours championship with the Bourton club.
