DORCHESTER Town midfielder Charlie Gunson has credited his eye-catching form this season to a tweak in his positioning.
Gunson, who joined Dorchester almost exactly a year ago in November 2021, has netted three goals this season.
His latest came in the 1-1 draw at Winchester City on Saturday, adding to the lung-bursting efforts that saw him voted the Magpies’ player of the month in October.
Gunson also scored in a 3-2 loss at Swindon Supermarine and hit the winner in the 1-0 victory over Salisbury.

And he believes a return to his preferred advanced midfield role, instigated by boss Glenn Howes, has ignited his performance levels this season.
He told Echosport: “In my youth days I always played as a more advanced player or a wide midfielder.
“Over the years, and last few, I’ve played deeper and deeper. I can play that role quite comfortably.
“But, if you ask most in football, scoring goals and creating chances is the best feeling.
“That’s what I want to do and to be able to have that chance this season, I’ve taken it and haven’t looked back. I’m really enjoying playing further forward."
Sixth-placed Dorchester are currently on a seven-game unbeaten run – their best for 16 years – but face a tough test against Chesham United in third on Saturday (3pm).
With the Magpies currently on song, Gunson believes their high position is justified and could be strengthened with good results against fellow play-off hopefuls Poole and Truro this month.
He added: “We’ve got a tough game coming up this weekend with Chesham.
“We’ve also got Truro who are second. So, our next two home games are tough against teams above us.
“If we can come out of those two games with points in the board, the club will be happy.
“As players, we’re just going to take each game as it comes and see where we are at the start of the season.”
Asked if the play-offs have been mentioned in the dressing room, Gunson replied: “We’ve joked about it a little bit.
“As we say all the time, we’re just looking at each game. We’re not going to look ahead.
“We’re going to try and pick up as many points as we can and see where we are at the end of the season.
“It would be an amazing experience to get in to the play-offs and that’s what we’re going to try and aim to do.”
