BUGLERS won the battle of the South & West Dorset League Premier Division’s mid-table with a 33-29 success over McCarthy Stone.
The first quarter saw an even start to the game, with calm, controlled play from both sides.
Strong winds proved challenging for the shooters at both ends, making for a low-scoring quarter that finished 6-6.
McCarthy Stone picked up the pace in the second quarter but some good interceptions from Buglers’ defence kept the score close going into half-time, although McCarthy had now taken the lead.

Consistent shooting from Buglers’ Emily England and Kat Frampton meant their team took the lead back from McCarthy.
Despite McCarthy’s strong efforts in the last quarter and the continued pressure from their GD Lauren Osgood, they could not quite catch up on the scoreboard and Buglers took a four-goal win.
TEAM WAIKIKI 24
GUNGHO MARKETING 34
GUNGHO Marketing took a more straightforward 34-24 victory in the other featured Premier Division contest.
Some great attacking play from Gungho GA Olivia Conning started this game, but Waikiki’s defence were up to the challenge and continually prevented the ball from getting into Gungho’s shooting circle.
Gungho only had a one-goal lead going into quarter-time but in the second quarter Gungho scored multiple, consecutive goals to push their lead out.
However, excellent passing from Waikiki’s WA Becca Rees kept them just in touch at half-time.
In the third quarter, both teams demonstrated accurate passing and strong defensive plays, however Gungho’s shooters were more ruthless, allowing them to push their lead out to eight goals going into the final quarter.
Waikiki’s defence continued to work hard and were going for any opportunity to win the ball back, but Gungho stayed calm under the pressure and had a comfortable ten-goal lead by the final whistle.

JOE Newton Electrical defeated bottom side Exe Training 38-20 in Division One.
Joe Newton’s WA Martha Usher came up with interceptions to help them pull ahead in the first quarter and they never looked back.
Meanwhile, Exe Training’s Lucy Still dominated play down the court with quick passes, while Joe Newton defenders Ellie Maslen and Senna Briant made Exe work hard for each and every goal.
Eventually, this began to wear down Exe’s attack and Joe Newton capitalised to further their lead by half-time.
Joe Newton made a strong start to the third quarter and continued to widen the gap.
Exe continued to work the ball well in their attack, but the strong defending of Joe Newton meant they struggled to convert their opportunities into goals.
Exe gave a final push in the last quarter but accurate shooting from Joe Newton’s Camilla Assirati and Caragh Watt meant they maintained their lead and secured the win.
SANDSFOOT SIRENS 16
WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS B 34
WARMER Home Improvements B moved second in Division Two with a 34-16 win over Sandsfoot Sirens.
In this game, swift passes by Warmer took them to an early lead.
The difficult weather conditions affected both teams, making for a scrappy first quarter, with lots of turnovers.
Both teams started the second quarter well. However, some great gains from Warmer GD Lauren Routledge, gave them a stronger advantage.
Warmer then began to pull away on the scoreboard using accurate passes and shooting.
Sandsfoot came out strong with renewed determination in the third quarter, but Warmer’s controlled passing meant they maintained the lead all the way through to the final whistle, although the second half was much closer.
