DORCHESTER Town are “ahead of track” after rising to sixth place in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, assistant boss James Wood feels.
The Magpies are enjoying their best season since 2013 and have been constantly in touch with the play-off battle since the beginning of the campaign.
Dorchester have gone six games unbeaten three times in the last 16 years.
However, their 1-1 draw with Winchester City extended to seven games their current run in all competitions – the club’s best since 2006.

And Wood is keen to keep the feel-good factor going at the Avenue.
“It’s exactly what we wanted,” he told Echosport.
“We know the competitive nature of this league and it’s a sign of a good team if you can pick points up away from home and make your home ground your fortress.
“You’ll do well if you can do that. The boys are showing both sides to it. We know we can get the ball down and play and we know we’ve got a real cutting edge.
“They’re showing a really good resilience as well. We want this run to continue, we’ve got some difficult games coming up.
“We’re pleased at the moment. We’re probably a little bit ahead of track on where we thought we would be but it keeps us in and around the play-off places, that’s the main thing.”
Dorchester have negotiated a tricky November but their December schedule looks equally as harsh.
Glenn Howes’ men face matches against established play-off sides Chesham and Poole, plus title contenders Truro – who lost 3-0 at Chesham on Saturday with nine men.
