WEYMOUTH boss John Hollins says the club "can't afford to wait" on Michael Malcolm and Paolo Vernazza as the duo continue to mull over new deals.

And while Vernazza and Malcolm make their minds up, Hollins admits he has been forced to look elsewhere to protect the club's interests.

He said: "They are still thinking about it, but we as a club can't afford to wait. We would like to wait but we can't.

"It's a player's right to do so but it might end up being too late. Football is a business that moves quickly and if you don't get what you want, you move on.

"While they are doing what they are doing we are moving on, we've told them it's up to you'. There's no pressure on me so I'm not losing sleep."

Hollins has so far signed six new faces for next season's Blue Square Premier campaign and is happy with the progress he's made so far.

He added: "The squad is coming along slowly but surely and we are getting people in the right positions. We've talked to keepers we've known for a long time, and the ones we want will come in and make a difference.

"The PFA list is out soon which lets you know about players all over the country so that could be interesting.

"As soon as the season finished we made sure we did our homework and, more or less, we've got what we want so far."

* The Terras Trust's Extraordinary General Meeting and Inaugural Elections are being held this Friday at the Wessex Stadium (7.30pm).

The Trust, hoping to see as many members as possible, will have an independent scrutiniser at the EGM in the form of Neil Le Milliere from the Exeter City Supporters' Trust.
