TERRAS boss Bobby Wilkinson vented his frustration as his side bowed out of the FA Trophy with a 4-2 defeat at Worthing.
A classy finish from Keelan O’Connell put Weymouth 1-0 up at Woodside Road before two goals in the space of three minutes from Callum Kealy and Ollie Pearce gave the hosts a half-time advantage.
Pearce netted a second before Ibrahim Akanbi made it four for the Rebels to put the contest beyond doubt, Brad Ash netted a consolation from the penalty spot for the Terras late on.
Reacting to the defeat on BBC Radio Solent, Wilkinson said: “A tough one to take.
“To go 1-0 up and create one or two chances to go 2-0 up, then get caught with the one long ball – it’s sloppy defending again.
“We conceded straight away again within that five minutes. We speak about it all the time ‘if you go 1-1 or you go 2-1 down, stay in the game’.
“I’m not going to keep coming out here and making excuses. That’s frustrated me because the game plan was working.
“We were solid. We let them have the ball across the back because that’s what they are good at but they couldn’t break us down. To get caught with one long ball, I can’t keep defending that. It’s just so frustrating.
“I know we’ve got defenders missing but you’ve still got to defend better than that in those situations.”
He added: “I wouldn’t mind if someone put one in the top locker or someone really earned a great goal against us.
“But we are always a yard off because we drop too deep and don’t want to concede the second. I wouldn’t mind but we work so hard on it.
“You are climbing a mountain every single week aren’t you? That’s why I’m really frustrated.”
