THE VETERANS' HUB 43

GUNGHO MARKETING 19

VETERANS' Hub continued their impressive start to the South & West Dorset League Premier Division season with a 43-19 win over Gungho Marketing.

It was a good start from both teams, as both sets of players used the space well. This resulted in fast, end-to-end play throughout the first quarter.

Veterans’ however, were more accurate under the post thanks to GS Rachel Scarff and went into quarter time with a six-goal advantage.

Gungho came out fighting in the second quarter, but Veterans’ defence continued to make it difficult for them to score.

Both teams made changes going into the second half, however this did not stop Veterans’ from continuing to dominate.

Gungho still maintained their intensity, particularly in defence, with GD Mailia Brown coming up with interceptions.

Neither team showed signs of tiring in the final quarter, and the pace of the game was still incredibly fast, but Veterans’ accuracy and consistency across the game secured them the win.

LULWORTH LIGHTNING 41

JOE NEWTON ELECTRICAL 39

LULWORTH Lightning completed a tense two-point win over Joe Newton Electrical in Division One.

This game got off to a fast and furious start, with both sides being aggressive in defence to win opportunities for their team. Lulworth’s GS Sam Shewbridge’s smooth shooting, however, took them into a comfortable lead at quarter time.

Joe Newton made some team changes going into the second quarter, which paid off for them as they had closed the gap to just five by half-time.

Control of the game swung back and forth between the teams during the third quarter, making for a tight 15 minutes.

Lulworth’s GD Kat King came up with multiple clean interceptions, however the score line stayed close, setting the teams up for a tense final quarter.

Joe Newton quickly closed the gap even further at the start of the fourth and final quarter, thanks to interceptions from GD Ellie Maslem and precise shooting from GS Camilla Assirati.

This triggered a furious fight until the end of the match, when Lulworth had just managed to hold on to their lead to take the win.

FIRST FIT WINDOWS 36

EXE TRAINING 31

FIRST Fit Windows strengthened their position in mid-table in Division One with a narrow 36-31 win over Exe Training.

Despite only having six players, First Fit showed their class and experience to still take the win over Exe.

Exe initially took the lead at the start of the game, however First Fit worked hard to get the ball back and, due to some mistakes by Exe and First Fit’s GS Jess Quickfall consistent shooting, they had the lead at quarter time.

Now having found their rhythm and settled into playing with only six, First Fit dominated the second quarter and extended their lead.

Exe came out strong in the third quarter, particularly GD Bex Hedditch and GK Gracie Kingston, who put pressure on First Fit’s attackers.

Exe had a brilliant quarter, and had levelled the scores just in time for the final quarter.

Not to be outdone, First Fit then had a really strong start to the final quarter, and as they renewed their dominance of the game, they pulled away and took the win.

WJNC WAVES 38

ZEST 33

WJNC Waves were made to work hard for a 38-33 Division Two win over Zest.

There was a fast start to this game, however Waves demonstrated more control than their opponents and had a slim three-goal lead at quarter-time.

Although the pressure from both defensive ends increased throughout the first half, Waves GA Niamh Seeley stood up to this well and continued to shoot accurately.

With the scoreline still close, the second half continued to be intense and fast paced. It was not until the final quarter that Waves began to truly dominate play and secure the win.
