CORFE Crusaders continued their strong start to the South & West Dorset League Premier Division season with a 47-27 win over Gungho Marketing.
It was a strong start by Corfe, who brought the ball down court quickly. This, combined with strong shooting from GS Madison Carter, meant they took an early lead, although Gungho worked hard in the mid-court to challenge ball.
There was strong defence from Corfe all up court, which made for a bright start to the second quarter from them.
Notably, there were excellent interceptions from Corfe C Sammy Whisker, while Gungho’s GA Ellen McDonald worked the ball well around their shooting circle.

Gungho switched up their team and brought their subs on in the third quarter, however Corfe still dominated play.
Once these changes had settled, Gungho had a better final quarter.
They got more shots on goal, thanks to defensive pressure from GK Amber Hider and great positioning from GA Georgia Pearson. Corfe’s strong start and clean netball, however, meant they held on to win.
BELLE CONSTRUCTION 74
McCARTHY STONE 31
REIGNING champions Belle Construction racked up a big 74-31 win over McCarthy Stone in the Premier Division.
Despite great defensive pressure from McCarthy’s GD Lauren Osgood at the start of the game, who came up with multiple interceptions in the circle, accurate shooting from Belle’s GA Jaimee Browne meant they edged ahead and held their lead.
Belle began to dominate through court in the second quarter and extended their lead. However, McCarthy’s GS Mandy Grafton shooting was on point.
Despite awesome defence from GK Gilly Woodsford and a strong final quarter from McCarthy, Belle were too far ahead and took a convincing win.
COASTAL CHEESE 32
JOE NEWTON ELECTRICAL 27
COASTAL Cheese inflicted Joe Newton Electrical's first loss of the season with a 32-27 victory in Division One.
Both teams started well, clearly wanting this to be a close, competitive inter-club match.
Joe Newton’s defence were on Coastal from the start and made life difficult for their attackers. Coastal, however, showed their strength and had pulled ahead at the end of the first quarter.
The attackers on both teams stepped up to the defensive pressure in the second quarter, with the shooters managing to secure goals for their teams at both ends.
The score was close at half-time, with only six goals separating the teams.
It was all to play for in the second half, as Coastal’s shooters worked together well and began to figure out the strong defence from Joe Newton. Despite Joe Newton working well and using accurate passes through court, Coastal held on to their lead and took the win.
WJNC WILDCATS 49
WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS B 28
WJNC Wildcats keep their place at the Division Two summit with a 49-28 success over Warmer Home Improvements B.
Despite a slow start from both sides, the game did then pick up speed as Wildcats made some great moves and decisions in attack.
Warmer’s defence managed to keep on top of them, with WD Nancy Garman coming up with some great interceptions. The teams went goal-for-goal through the first quarter.
Wildcats stepped up in the second quarter, with accurate shooting from their GS Maraia Ratulalai. Warmer were still in touch on the scoreboard, however, thanks to GA Amy Hallet.
Wildcats really put their foot down in the second half. Their consistent pressure in defence and clinical shooting in attack meant they eventually took a strong win in this competitive game.
