NEWTON ABBOT SPURS 6
BRIDPORT 0
BRIDPORT were thumped 6-0 by Newton Abbot Spurs in Chris Herbst’s first game as permanent boss.
The Bees’ margin of defeat is their heaviest of the season after conceding three goals in each half of this South West Peninsula League Premier East encounter.
Toby Pullman’s double and a Gav Collins strike put Spurs 3-0 ahead in the first half but their advantage could have been bigger as Bridport started poorly.
Herbst’s men could only respond when Josh Hunter failed to seriously trouble the home goal with a half chance.

Newton Abbot continued in the ascendancy during the second half with a penalty, although Bridport strongly feel the foul given against captain Dan Baggs took place outside the box.
In the end, James Moxon stepped up to beat Kian Wootton from the spot, making it 4-0.
Pedro Pinto and Lloyd Gardner added gloss to the scoreline for the Devon side, who only had to deal with another half chance in the second period, this time for Sol Ayunga.
Speaking after a humbling defeat, an honest Herbst said: “To be fair, they were really good. They should be a lot higher than what they are.
“We were really poor again. You can’t give good sides chances because they will punish you, and it showed massively.
“It was just sloppy. We had spells but we kept giving away stupid chances.
“It was going to come back and bite you and it really did. Nobody played well, it was just a bad, bad day – one of those you’ve got to put behind you and move on.”
Bridport stay in 19th and bottom, while Newton Abbot strengthened their position in ninth.
On Tuesday, Bridport host Elmore – themselves victims of a heavy defeat following a 7-0 reverse against Okehampton.
