RICHARD Bullen led home a record field in the 13th annual Edgon Easy 10km race in Weymouth.

The Les Croupiers Running Club member from Cardiff eventually pulled clear to win in a time of 33.53 and he was followed shortly after by Morpeth Harriers' Andrew Lawrence (34.20) and Egdon Heath Harriers' John Broom (34.25), who finished third.

Fellow Egdon member Steph Slade took the ladies' title in 38.19, well clear of her nearest rival Kathleen Sincock (39.64) from South West Road Runners. Lucinda Simmonds (42.18), originally from Weymouth, represented Stubbington Green Harriers and finished third.

The race attracted well over 100 occasional runners in a field of 250 who all performed superbly in blustery conditions.

This year's event was notable for the increased number of younger runners, particularly in the 15-18 age category where Weymouth athlete Ben Davis came home in first place in 37.41.

Weymouth St Pauls Harrier David Tissington won the men 60+ section while Egdon took both team prizes.

The men's team consisted of John Broom, David Caddy, Keith Hollywood and Alan Trent while the ladies' line up included Steph Slade, Tracey Baker, Katie Williams and Kerry Cooper.
