WEYMOUTH 192-9 (24pts) beat SUTTONERS 161 (7pts) by 31 runs
DORSET player Ben Lawes returned to the Weymouth fray and took four wickets as the Seasiders defeated high-flying Suttoners.
The hosts led the Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League table at the start of play but they had no answer to Weymouth's fantastic team display that also saw debutant James Ladd-Gibbon capture the wicket of danger man Chris Insall in his opening over.
Lawes, who was making his first appearance of the season, also scored 18 with the bat but it was Andy Bray (30) and Tom England's (40) stand of 51 that enabled the Seasiders to set such a tricky target that the home side never looked like reaching.
Janaway said: "It was a cracking win. We wanted 200 but it was not easy and in the end we made 192. All of our batsmen got starts but then lost their wickets and it has to be said there was a couple of shocking decisions as well but overall we were pleased.
"We then got off to a great start in the field with Dave Trotter taking 3-18 and Ladd-Gibbon getting the important wicket of Insall in his first over.
"Insall scored 130 not out against us last time we played them so to get him cheaply was very pleasing.
"That put them under pressure but they did respond with a good partnership before Simon Browne and Lawes then pegged them back with some great bowling.
"Lawes took 4-29 in the end which was magnificent and some of the catches we took were superb. It was a fantastic win and the team spirit was excellent, and hopefully now we can carry that on."
The Seasiders won the toss and elected to bat and they got off to a solid start, posting 39 before Jim Ryall (26) became the first victim of the innings, holing out to Insall off the bowling of Chris Rawlings (4-32).
That brought Lawes to the crease who started in good shape despite seeing Janaway (17) trapped leg before by Justin Birnie (1-38).
The ex-Bournemouth player reached 18 and looked to have found his rhythm before the impressive Rawlings found his pad in front of the stumps, causing the umpire to raise his finger.
Paul Payne (17) followed shortly after and at 99-4 it was clear Weymouth needed a solid stand if they were going to reach a competitive total. Bray and England provided it before Guy Hill caught the former off the bowling of Ben Clifford (2-29).
Browne (19) then came in at number seven and added vital runs as Weymouth reached 192 at the end of their allotted overs, giving Suttoners a tricky score to chase in the second innings.
And the hosts certainly felt the pressure as they struggled to 35-4, losing Insall (4), Hill (9) and Jon Beck (0) very early on to some fantastic bowling by Trotter (3-18) and Ladd-Gibbon (1-22).
Clive Johns (14) put up some resistance but there was no doubt that the home side were in trouble and in desperate need of a lift.
They got it through Neil Corbin (35) and Rawlings (47) who moved the score on to 120 but the Seasiders kept plugging away and hit back with three quick wickets through Lawes (4-29) and Browne (2-25).
That put Suttoners on 130-7 and from there the Seasiders always looked in command as Lawes mopped up the tail with relative ease to complete a fine victory.
