WESSEX will display the English National Volleyball Championship Trophy when they host the sixth Weymouth Invitational Tournament on June 7 and 8.
The event, which is being held at Weymouth Sports Club, will see 16 of the country's top National League teams compete and with representatives from all three divisions in attendance some very high standard matches are expected.
Wessex will be hoping to go one better this year after finishing runners-up in 2007 and with that in mind they are fielding a very competitive squad.
However, they will face stiff competition from the likes of London Polonia, Division Two champions Reading and last year's winners Portsmouth who will all feel they have a realistic chance of claiming the silverware.
Since winning the English Championship, Wessex have parted their official pairing with TeamBath but they will retain several of last season's successful squad when they return to going it alone next season.
Their tournament squad reflects that with a fine blend of youth and experience. The outside attack will be led by former England international Amy Weems and the middle will see current England international Lizzie Smith in action.
Several of Wessex's past NVL players will also take to the court during the two-day event with Debbie Spokes, Julia Stevens and Nikki Tinsley all coming out of retirement.
