BEAMINSTER entertain Corfe Mullen at the Memorial Ground in Dorset Funeral Plan Division One tomorrow (2pm) still searching for their first victory of 2008.
Skipper Ross Baker will oversee his first home match in charge after Richard Bugler's sudden departure a fortnight ago, but the new man at the helm is confident his side can register that elusive win against their unbeaten visitors.
"I'm desperate to get a win because I think it could be a springboard for us," he said.
"We have a young team but they're full of energy, confidence and are raring to go."
Baker welcomes back batsmen Julian Davies and Chris Park into his side, both of whom will add experience and depth to a top order that has been fragile thus far.
Colin Gough, who made his debut in last week's defeat to Bournemouth, steps aside although Fred Etherington, who scored 21 and recorded match figures of 1-20, is absent.
Beaminster have failed to reach 200 in their previous three attempts and have not once batted out their full allocation of overs.
And Baker concedes that his batsmen must assume more responsibility if they are to post a defendable total or successfully chase-down a target.
He added: "Our batting's been the main concern and is probably why we haven't won yet, because our bowling and fielding have been good.
"Chris Park and Nick Davies will strengthen the top order and it's always a good pitch at the Memorial Ground so hopefully we'll do it justice."
