ALL the hard work has paid off for three Leweston School students who have been selected to attend the newly established Hockey Performance Centre trials.
Luci Taylor, Georgie Lanfear and Becky Head achieved their invitations after impressing at the Inter Counties hockey tournaments back in February, but will all visit different sets of trials.
Taylor has been selected for an England assessment weekend in July at Loughborough for under-14s.
The camp is being led by England Performance coaches in partnership with the regional coaches to give young people training, workshops, match play and experience that reflects an international training camp.
From here Taylor may be invited to attend more national camps or may move to the Junior Regional Performance centre.
Lanfear has been asked to join the Exeter Junior Regional Performance centre for under-16s.
Twenty girls from the west region have been selected for the squad and they will train regularly in the hope of being selected to represent the Junior Regional Performance centre in a tournament against other centre's from Bristol and Winchester.
Meanwhile, Head is expected to attend a further trial next season when the Junior Regional Performance Centre for under-14s is set up.
Kerry Mullen, head of hockey at the Sherborne school, said: "The girls are a talented group who have worked very hard and shown great enthusiasm for the sport over the years. They are very pleased with their selection and are continuing to work hard on their sport."
