DORCHESTER Town Swifts Under-9s held their second Give us Back our Game football festival on FA Cup final day at Dorchester Rugby Club.

More than 25 children from Dorchester Tigers, Puddletown and Sturminster Newton joined in the fun with every child playing every minute of every game for nearly two and a half hours in a round-robin format.

The GuBoG campaign which has received considerable media attention this year aims to allow children to play football with the minimum of adult interference.

The children refereed their own games, implemented their own rules and were left to rule the roost.

Lending support to Dorchester Swifts was Paul Cooper, founder of GuBoG.

He said: "I saw some terrific football, the kids really express themselves with this format. With no substitutes, so much football can be played."

Swifts coach Sean Cooch added: "It was a very enjoyable morning with no-holds football, which was highly competitive but great fun."
