STUART Morgan is now looking forward to a fresh challenge in his career with European football now on the horizon, after describing Portsmouth's FA Cup win as a "magical" experience.

The former Weymouth and Dorchester Town boss said: "For me it brings a whole new perspective to scouting because I'll have to compile reports for UEFA Cup games.

"Watching games in this country is a lot easier because you know the players and how they play, but I'm really looking forward to adding another string to my bow.

"We've also got the Community Shield in August which will be our third trip to Wembley in the space of five months when before it was once in 69 years."

The Pompey scout watched on nervously as Harry Redknapp's side claimed their first triumph in the competition since 1939 with a 1-0 win over Cardiff City at Wembley.

Morgan said: "Saturday was fantastic but for the parade on Sunday I couldn't believe what I was seeing, I was expecting a great occasion but it was more like a coronation - Harry's coronation.

"To see so many happy people, from pensioners to young kids, was great and the day got better and better as we went on.

"When you're involved in football, weekends don't get any better than that.

"Finishing eighth in the Premier League and winning the FA Cup though, will take some repeating.

"I'm just glad I didn't have to talk about us losing the game. It couldn't have happened to a better manager. No one deserves the FA Cup on his CV more than Harry, he's won promotions in the past but there's nothing quite like getting your hands on the FA Cup - it was magical."

The Fratton Park outfit won the cup courtesy of Kanu's first-half strike.

Morgan added: "The game was very tense, the most nervous I've been all season, but it went exactly how I thought it would.

"Kanu hit the post with a great chance but I felt we got better and I felt comfortable once we went ahead. It was great to be among the fans when we scored our goal, it was incredible, I don't think I've ever seen a goal celebrated as much as that."
