WEYMOUTH Under-11s continued their winning ways with victory in the Chickerell Tournament.

The Terras started in style with a 4-1 victory over Portland in the group stages with goals from Daragh MacDonagh, Jack Simpson and Luke Chatterton but were then held to a goal-less draw by Weymouth Wand-erers before going down 1-0 to a strong Cougars side.

However, they found their touch again in a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Wey-mouth Victoria before ensuring their place in the semi-finals with a win over Chickerell.

There they faced Portland's first string and won through thanks to a great finish by Aidan Glover.

In a tense final against Cougars they battled their way to victory thanks to a brilliant strike on the turn by Chatterton.

This is the fourth trophy the side has picked up so far following the league and cup double and victory in the Dorchester tournament.

Weymouth Under-9s won their respective age group as did Weymouth Terras who beat Dorchester Raiders 2-0 to triumph in the final.

The Under-10s remained unbeaten throughout the competition defeating Brid-port, Treharris, Dorchester Raiders and Chickerell United in the group stages and drawing with Christ-church to take top spot and earn a semi-final place against the hosts.

A hard fought match was settled by a single goal in the Terras' favour and so Andy Morgan's team progressed to the final where they met Dorchester Raiders for the second time having narrowly defeated them 2-1 during the group stages.

The first half ended goal-less but the Terras applied the pressure from the re-start and were soon rewarded by a goal from Jake Klust.

This was followed by a second courtesy of Ashley Owen and so it remained as the Terras celebrated at the final whistle.

Morgan said: "It was a fantastic team performance throughout the day by the whole squad with keeper Josh Golsby and his defenders, Jai Harvey, Dan Cam-burn, and Lewis Thorpe only conceding one goal in the seven matches played.

"Midfielders Jacob Mor-gan, Tom Edgerley and Jake Klust played some fantastic football going forward and had also helped out with some sterling defensive work while forwards Ashley Owen and Billy Hicks both contributed to the goals tally."

Meanwhile, Chickerell United saw their Under-8 side triumph at the club's annual tournament.

The Chickens' Under-12s and Under-13s also claimed their respective runners-up prizes.

In contrast to last year, when torrential rain played havoc with the competition, United enjoyed two days of sunshine at Budmouth Tech-nology College.

The festival played host to teams from all over Dorset and welcomed back visitors from South Wales, Treharris.

Club spokesperson Justine McKay said: "Thanks must go to the organising committee, referees, parents and sponsors - Haven Holidays, Class Bodyworks, Wessex Plumbing and Heating and long-time supporter of the tournament Phil Laming."
