DORCHESTER Town saw fortune desert them as Truro City eased to a 4-0 victory in their Pitching In Southern Premier Division South clash at Bolitho Park.

In the 12th minute the Magpies suffered a double blow when Rocky Neal put Truro 1-0 up, keeper Brad Snelling sustaining an injury in the process.

Kieran Douglas had to play more than an hour in goal with no deputy keeper on the bench, and he acquitted himself well despite being beaten three times in the second half.

Tyler Harvey grabbed a brace, while Neal completed his own with 18 minutes to go.

The result was a bitter pill for the Magpies, who were looking to take back-to-back opening wins for the first time since the 2006/07 Conference South season.

Truro began on the front foot as Connor Riley-Lowe, making his 200th appearance, was denied by Snelling.

Dorchester responded when Shaq Gwengwe teed up Alfie Stanley for a shot that narrowly evaded the target.

Just a minute later, Truro were ahead as Neal stabbed home Dan Sullivan’s cross, with Snelling injured while trying to keep it out.

Snelling continued for 15 minutes before succumbing, replaced by Tiago Sa with Douglas donning the gloves.

And Truro were eager to test out Douglas with three shots – all failing to trouble him – as Tyler Harvey curled a free-kick off target, before Sullivan and Neal slashed wide.

Matt Neale had a minor chance for Dorchester when he drove into the area and rifled over before Douglas handled a Neal shot well for his first serious save.

Douglas was called upon again moments before half-time as Harvey tested his glovework without joy.

However, he stood no chance from the spot after the resumption when Sullivan was fouled, allowing Harvey to make it 2-0 in the 50th minute.

Harvey bagged his second six minutes later to kill the game as a contest soon after Stanley had whizzed a shot over.

Sullivan was the creator, getting to the byline and pulling back for Harvey to beat Douglas with a well-placed shot high into the roof of the net.

Neale worked Truro keeper James Hamon into his first real save of the game on the hour but, understandably, Dorchester began to tire in the Devon heat.

Perhaps inevitably a fourth goal came when Jack Rice picked out Neal for a deadly header deep inside the box.

To their credit, Dorchester pushed until the end with Stanley once more going close, fizzing a shot past the post.

But the Magpies were only searching for a consolation and had to write off this defeat with a chance to put things right at home to Plymouth Parkway on Tuesday (7.45pm).
