BANWELL 1
BRIDPORT 2
BRIDPORT ended their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 victory over a brave Banwell side.
Three divisions separate the Bees from their Somerset County Division Two opponents and they needed two goals from a new signing to get them over the line.
Bosley Yu was Bridport’s star player, scoring both goals from acute angles either side of half-time.
Banwell deserve a huge amount of credit for their performance, making Bridport work for their goals and creating chances of their own.

Bridport, who were without ten players due to work or injury, saw their lead cut by James Capon but managed to see out their third victory of the summer.
Speaking post-match, Bees’ manager Edgar Marcu said: “Considering we had nine or ten players missing and we started with players that I wouldn’t normally start, it was a really good test.
“I’m proud of all the team but I understand it will be a long season and really tough.
“Two lovely goals and a good performance from (Bosley) and all of the lads. It wasn’t an easy victory.
“We’ve met a good team, they played really good football and have a good manager as well. That makes me even more happy because we won 2-1 missing loads of players.
“Loads of positives. At the end of the day, a win is a win. At the same time I’m cautious regarding the future and how well we have to prepare ourselves for the next games.”
Bridport begin their South West Peninsula League Premier East season at Ivybridge on Saturday (3pm).
Bees: Smalley (Wootton), Baggs, Gall, Grace, Gape, Owen (Osei-Kumi), Mamanta, Nicholas, Bogdan (Brook), Yu, Greenwood-Neate.
