OMAR Mussa is destined for a return to the National League after agreeing a deal with Dagenham & Redbridge, subject to FA approval.

Mussa, 21, who has one year remaining on his Weymouth contract, moves for an undisclosed fee – understood to be a significant five-figure sum.

Dagenham are understood to have gazumped a Southend United bid at the final hour, the Daggers having had a bid rejected for the midfielder in January.

It comes after Mussa posted, deleted and then re-posted a goodbye message to the Terras after one season at the club.

He played 2,536 minutes across 37 appearances for Weymouth, scoring one goal and creating four assists.

His solitary strike proved the match-winner in a 1-0 victory over King's Lynn.

Undoubtedly a rough diamond, Mussa mixed an ability to squirm out of tight spaces in midfield and silky skills on the ball with an inexplicable tendency to concede possession cheaply.

Mussa's message on social media read: “To the Terras fans, I just wanna say thank you and to all the staff and everyone around the club that made me feel welcome here. 

"The season didn’t end the way that I wanted it to, but I made some amazing memories with my teammates and the fans and I learnt a lot. 

"Weymouth will always be a home for me. Thank you for everything. I will always be Weymouth’s number one fan.”

In a brief statement, the Terras said: "Weymouth Football Club would like to thank Omar for his contribution for the club and wish him all the very best for the future."

Mussa becomes the 14th confirmed exit for the Terras this summer, with the club only announcing four signings.

Tom Bearwish, Tom Blair, Ahkeem Rose and Xander McBurnie are the quartet in question.
