DORCHESTER Town have unveiled the signing of former Coventry City attacking midfielder Billy Stedman.

Stedman, 22, becomes the first signing in new boss Glenn Howes' tenure.

Capable of playing out wide on either flank or in an advanced midfield role, Stedman adds competition for the likes of Flavio Tavares and Christos Papakonstantinou especially.

After his release from Southampton, Stedman penned his first professional contract with the Sky Blues in 2018.

He both featured and scored regularly for the club's under-18s and under-23s and went on to make his first-team debut against Arsenal U21s in the Checkatrade Trophy in the 2018/19 season.

However, that was to be Stedman's only appearance for the West Midlands side and he signed for Icelandic second division club UMF Víkingur Ólafsvík in 2020 after exiting the then-named Ricoh Arena.

Stedman would go on to score once in 19 games for Ólafsvík as they finished ninth of 12 teams.

Magpies fans can expect silky skills and pacy, direct runs on the ball from Stedman.

Dorchester host Wimborne Town in league action tomorrow (7.45pm).
