MASON Law took his third British GP2 victory of the season as he led home an all-Spirit podium in the Oulton Park feature race.

In a dream result for the Shaftesbury manufacturer, Dan Jones of iForce Lloyd & Jones PR Racing claimed second position ahead of Jamie Perrin on the second Spirit Moto Corsa.

Starting the race from pole in class having set the fastest lap in the sprint Race, law was in a race-long cat and mouse battle with Charlie Nesbitt until the Team Kovara Projects RS Racing rider crashed with two laps remaining.

In addition to claiming the GP2 victory, Law was able to clinch third in the overall British Supersport/GP2 race classification, with all three of the Spirit bikes finishing in the top six.

It is Law’s second overall top three finish in as many race meetings, having finished second at Silverstone last time out.

Law said: “After getting caught out in qualifying I had to fight back to ninth overall in the sprint race, fourth in GP2, but I was able to set the fifth fastest lap of the race. This was the silver-lining as it meant I got to start the feature race from there.

“I got a good start and was hanging in with the guys in front. The safety car meant everyone was bunched up and we had to get the hammer down when we were released with two laps to go.

"I was really pleased to finish third overall and take the GP2 win. It’s been a long time coming!

“It was really positive to be right up the leaderboard at a track that shouldn’t suit the GP2 bike.

“Two rounds to go now. I fully intend to finish the year on a high.”

Perrin said: “It was nice to be back on the podium, even though the results didn’t show the pace I had.

“I was able to run good pace but not able to keep it up due to my body still struggling from injuries. I’m getting better every day so the next round should be another improvement.”
