BOURNEMOUTH SPORTS 5

BLANDFORD UNITED 8

(After extra time)

BLANDFORD United won an incredible 13-goal Dorset Premier League Cup preliminary round tie, beating Bournemouth Sports 8-5 away after extra time.

Honours were even at 2-2 when Jack Voisey and Adam Milligan netted for Sports and Blandford replied a Brad Pike brace.

However, Sports claimed a slender lead into half-time when Pa Modou Jammeh headed home.

Blandford came storming out of the blocks in the second half and flew into a 5-3 lead when Reuben Stanley equalised for a second time before Elliot Manson and Mark Ford notched with 10 minutes remaining.

Voisey then stunned Blandford with two last-ditch goals to make it 5-5 and beckon extra time.

Misfortune struck Sports as Jammeh pulled up with a hamstring injury, leaving his side with 10 men.

Blandford duly capitalised as Manson and Ford both scored for 7-5.

Spirited Sports struck the bar but Ford put the matter beyond doubt, sealing his hat-trick in the 117th minute and completing a thunderous cup tie.

Royals’ boss Josh Feirn said: “Where do you start? One thing we’ve been struggling to do is to score goals, so to score eight was nice but to concede five wasn’t great.

“But we got the win, we played well and it was quite satisfying.”

Blandford host Ham Rec in the first round on Saturday, September 25 (2.30pm).
