BRIDPORT 0
WELLINGTON 4
Wright 19, J Quick 38, Casey 54, Byrnes 88
BRIDPORT sustained a 10th defeat of the Toolstation Western League Premier Division season with a 4-0 loss to Wellington at St Mary’s Field.
The Bees were not without their chances but a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal cost them as Wellington scored twice in each half through Glen Wright, Jake Quick, Jordan Casey and Nathan Byrnes.
Bridport began brightly with Christian Blango leading the attack from the front, pressing Wellington at every opportunity.
After Dan Baggs had a header blocked near the goalline, Blango charged down Wellington keeper Shay Allen and was unlucky not to see the ball fall his way as both players hit the deck.
Wellington began to assert themselves after Sam Towler’s blockbuster attempt from 30 yards which forced Bees’ keeper Greg Taylor into a good save.

Towler’s attempt aside, Bridport had enjoyed the better of play and went behind against the run of play when Glen Wright spun and curled home past Taylor from 20 yards in the 19th minute.
An equaliser was incredibly not forthcoming eight minutes later.
Darren Lock’s driving run and through ball to Tony Carlile set Bees away on the counter and the latter’s ball to Blango gave the striker a golden chance six yards out, only for Allen to deny his weak effort.
Taylor was busy at the other end to make a brave stop at the feet of Quick and Jake Owen was on hand to block Jordan Casey’s backheel on the follow-up.
There was no such reprieve in the 38th minute when Owen was unfortunate to see the ball clog underneath his legs after intercepting a cross, allowing Quick to nip in, shimmie past Taylor and roll home.
Bridport ended the half strongly, hitting the bar through Dom McAllister’s deflected shot.
From the resultant corner, a bouncing ball prevented Kris Hastings from getting a shot away before Mike Hill snatched at the loose ball and sliced wide.
Immediately after half-time a lovely Bees move saw McAllister fail to connect sweetly with Hill’s cross before Lock aimed a 25-yard shot just wide with the outside of his foot.
However, seconds after Bridport subbed off Carlile for Riley Greenwood-Neate, the Bees switched off as Casey stole in on the right to fire across Taylor into the far corner.
Bridport responded when Blango boomed a header over from a corner and McAllister unleashed a 25-yard rocket against the bar with Allen motionless.
Malakai Stanners curled wide and Quick went close to a fourth which eventually came when sub Byrnes swept home a low cross from the left to add gloss to the scoreline.
Bees: Taylor, Stanners, Ja Scadding, Hastings, Baggs, Owen, Lock, McAllister, Blango (Kamara 72), Carlile (Greenwood-Neate 53), Hill (Boulton 79). Subs not used: Brook, Mamanta.
