PORTLAND UNITED 0
AFC TOTTON 3
PORTLAND United battled hard against a strengthened AFC Totton before falling to a 3-0 pre-season friendly defeat.
Southern League side Totton have laid out their intentions to move up through the leagues with a number of impressive signings, including Jordan Ngalo, Ade Olumuyiwa and Jack Hoey from Weymouth.
Portland defended superbly and proved difficult to break down, with Sam Griffin’s goal the only score 60 minutes in.
Josh Bertie and a trialist then added late goals after Portland had made wholesale changes.
Blues were not without chances themselves, with Oli Lowes going close twice plus Greg Borthwick and Ben Morris also threatening the Stags’ goal.

Speaking to Echosport, Portland boss Franklyn Clarke said: “They’re going to be very strong this year but they couldn’t break us down until they had a set-piece.
“The lads who came on did fantastic. Again, we had four or five 16-year-olds on the pitch.
“Overall, we learnt a lot. I was really happy with how we were in possession, we’ve sort of got that shape to where we want it to be now.”
Blues: Edgar, Lowes, Griffiths, Poole, Hutchinson, F Clarke, McKechnie, Smith, Morris, L Clarke, Leake. Subs: Borthwick, Lucas, Diaz, Scott, Kelly, Tennant.
