MAGPIES’ manager Robbie Herrera has revealed Dorchester were in talks to sign prolific striker Liam Ferdinand this summer.
Ferdinand scored both goals in Binfield’s dramatic 3-2 loss to Warrington Rylands in the FA Vase final at Wembley in May.
Signed on dual registration from Dorchester’s Southern League rivals Harrow, Ferdinand bagged six goals in five games.
Ferdinand also has experience at Hungerford, Bracknell and Thatcham but ultimately decided to stay in his local area, switching to Met Police.
Speaking to Echosport, Herrera said: “I’ve spoken to a few bodies, spoken to Liam Ferdinand but he’s looking to stay up nearer London way.
“I’ve spoken to a centre-half who knows the league and has had a good youth career.

“There’s also a lad I’ve spoken to, another forward, who was at QPR as a kid and is in his early 20s.
“I’ve got a few irons in the fire but I haven’t managed to get them over the line yet. Time will tell.”
Asked if he was confident of getting those potential deals done, Herrera added: “At the moment it’s too early to tell.
“Two lads have said they’re quite eager to come in for us to have a look at them and them to have a look at us.
“I’m sure that once we get them in they’ll be happy with what they see, I’m sure of it.
“It’s just trying to get them in and get them sorted.”
