BLANDFORD superbike star Brad Jones enjoyed his first laps on the new BMW M1000RR Superbike that he will race in the British Superbike Championship for 2021, writes Kerry Rawson.
Stepping up from a 600cc machine to a 1000cc bike, Jones has a lot to learn but has recently begun his testing program where he will get many laps under his belt to get a feel for the 220bhp BMW.
With three test days now completed, Jones said: “The first two tests weren’t overly productive due to bad weather and difficult conditions but we’ve just completed a day at Oulton Park in which we had great weather.
“Therefore, we got plenty of good dry laps and I began to get a feel for the new bike and really get to work with my new team. The initial feeling is positive, but I need many more laps to make good progress and feel at one with the bike.”
Jones will be joining the iForce Lloyd & Jones PR Racing squad who are based in Liverpool and have 20 years of experience in the British Superbike class – Jones will therefore emblazon the number 20 on his bike this season.

Before round one commences from Friday, July 25 at Oulton Park, the 23-year-old still has three days of testing planned to get to grips and further understand the new bike and class before battle begins.
The Bennetts British Superbike Championship consists of 11 rounds taking riders and teams to all the top circuits within the UK.
One date for the diary for the local supporters is Thruxton on Friday, July 30 to Sunday, August 1 where the championship will be welcoming fans and Jones would love to see as much home support as possible.
Before the season kicks off, Jones would like to give a special mention to his loyal sponsors who support his campaign year in year out and he is looking forward to sharing this next chapter of his career with them.
