WEYMOUTH Wildcats have announced their first individual meeting of the summer against the Isle of Wight’s Wightlink Warriors.
National League side Warriors will host the Wildcats, who are a nomadic side without a host track, on Thursday, July 22.
Wildcats have 41.5 points at their disposal with which to pick riders for the contest.
And their reserve selection has gone to 2019 Wildcats captain James Laker.
Weymouth have been forced to organise individual meetings after a series of controversies with the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB).
In 2019, the SCB prevented nomadic teams from competing in the Midland & Southern Development League, which is used by dozens of young riders to gain experience in the sport.
Weymouth have consequently applied for NORA affiliation, to join the Warriors in having broken away from the SCB.
The move is the first step on the road to forming a breakaway league, which could house fellow nomad teams Carmarthen, Milton Keynes, Reading and Exeter plus Crayford Kestrels.
