LEADING 8-1 with 25 minutes to go, Donhead Barbarians’ fans could have been forgiven for thinking the points were sealed in their Blackmore Vale League clash with Sturminster Rovers.
What followed must rank as one of the greatest comebacks in Blackmore Vale history as Rovers stunned Donhead with seven late goals to claim an incredible 8-8 draw.
George Coleman grabbed four goals for Rovers, adding to Kev Griffin, Billy Bright, Jay Danoris and Josh Guppy strikes.
Elsewhere, Bradford Abbas gained back-to-back wins in the Blackmore Vale League with a 10-3 victory over Bruton – despite going behind.
Justin Bingham’s hat-trick and Conor Bryant’s brace added to Chris Paull, Ollie Hilborne, Alec Knott, Tom Colley and Will Rumsey goals, while Bruton’s strikes came via Josh Terry, Lewis Blake and a David Clackson penalty.
TG bounced back from the County Cup exit last weekend with an impressive 7-3 victory over the Comets thanks to Josh Farrant’s treble, an Aron Wallis double plus Ben Hooper and Scott Bees goals, while Comet’s efforts came via Alfie Collings and Sam Smith.
Leaders Wincanton United continued their dominance with a 14-1 win over Hazlebury Hornets.
