JAY Lelliott rounded off his debut participation in the International Swimming League with two brilliant personal bests in Budapest.
Portland star Lelliott, competing for Toronto Titans, has faced the challenge of rapid-fire races in swimming’s newest format.
Franchise-style teams have attracted the world’s best swimmers with the likes of Great Britain superstar Adam Peaty and South Africa’s Chad le Clos in action.
Lelliott looked in stunning form after securing a personal best of 1:53.38 in the 200m butterfly last week.
Rising to the occasion of the semi-finals in Hungary, Lelliott reinforced his performance with a 200m backstroke personal best of 1:51.77 to claim fourth in his match.
That time was good enough to set a club record for the City of Sheffield Swim Squad – Lelliott’s domestic team.
And, in his final race for the Titans, Lelliott delivered the goods again with his second 200m butterfly personal best in a week.
Dipping below the 1:53 barrier for the first time in his career, Lelliott’s mark of 1:52.96 set another City of Sheffield club record and earned him fourth in his final match.
Despite only scoring in four of the nine matches, Lelliott still made it onto the MVP list with 30.5 points accumulated for his Canadian squad.
The ISL concluded in Budapest as Cali Condors beat LA Current, London Roar and defending champions Energy Standard to the title.
Over 300 swimmers fought for $6million in prize money across five weeks of action.
