A CAPACITY 600 crowd watched Steve Claridge’s Salisbury demolish Dorchester 6-1 at a wet and windswept Avenue Stadium in the Pitching In Southern Premier South.

The Magpies enjoyed a fair share of first-half possession but could not match their Wiltshire visitors after the break.

Magpies' boss Leigh Robinson was unable to select Vanarama National League-bound winger Tom Blair but named new loan signings from Torquay United, central defender Louie Slough and striker Olaf Koszela, in his starting line-up.

Josiah Dunstan started on the bench while Sam Bayston was recalled to the first XI and loan signing Harry Burns made his home debut.

There was a second-minute caution for a foul by Harry Hodges on Ollie Knowles but the free-kick by former Magpie Charlie Davis was cleared.

Salisbury skipper Lewis Benson then picked out Harry Baker who cut inside before unleashing a shot which Magpies' keeper Will Buse saved.

Koszela won a free-kick which was played short to Slough then via Bayston to Tiago Sa whose cross was cleared.

In a measure of the wretched conditions, a long ball from Buse aimed at Emile Ngoy was assisted out of play by the strong wind.

The deadlock was broken in the 11th minute when Dorchester skipper Ashley Wells lost out to Marvin Brooks who pulled the ball back to the 18-yard line where Baker was lurking to slot a sweet drive past Buse.

Next Benson and Baker combined to create a chance for Brooks whose effort was blocked.

Davis played in another former Dorchester player, Antonio Diaz, who cleared the crossbar from 20 yards.

Strong challenges on Buse by Baker and Diaz went unpunished by referee Ryan Saward while Diaz sent another attempt over.

Dorchester equalised on 29 minutes when Ngoy’s surging run across the penalty area was halted by a trip from visiting keeper, Alexis Andre Jr who surprisingly escaped any cards but was then beaten by Ngoy from the penalty spot.

Soon after Davis fouled Ngoy and the resultant Koszela free-kick was parried by the Whites' keeper and hastily cleared.

A firm drive from Benson drew a fine save from Buse although the offside flag was raised.

Wells became the second Magpie to be booked following a mistimed challenge on Diaz.

Koszela’s cross aimed at Ngoy was well read by Andre Jr who punched clear while at the other end, a Diaz free-kick found Brooks whose header was comfortably claimed by Buse.

Salisbury forced a succession of unsuccessful corners at the end of the first half but from a late Davis delivery, Baker found the top corner to grab his second goal of the afternoon.

A turning point in the match came four minutes after the restart when injured Charlie Madden was replaced by Dunstan.

Facing an immediate corner, the reshuffled Magpies defence failed to clear enabling Jack Ball to tap home at the far post.

Ngoy went close to reducing the arrears but his firm drive was clawed aside by Andre Jr.

Next, Diaz exchanged passes with Dominic Jefferies but his weak shot was cleared off the line by Slough.

Buse also saved to deny Diaz while Andre Jr claimed a cross from Oakley Hanger at the third attempt.

The tide turned decisively against the Magpies when Salisbury grabbed their fourth goal with Sam Roberts claiming the last touch amongst a melee of players in the Dorchester six-yard box.

Whites' substitute Elliott Wheeler had a powerful header ruled out for offside but Salisbury added their fifth goal from the penalty spot after an assistant referee spotted a handball infringement.

Knowles then stepped up to send Buse the wrong way.

Salisbury had another goal disallowed for offside after Warren Bentley burst through on goal, while a Knowles shot deflected off Wells for a corner from which Jefferies steered over.

Andre Jr raced out to kick clear from the run of Koszela as Dorchester kept battling.

In injury time, Salisbury rounded off a satisfying afternoon for the Whites when Buse tripped substitute Vaughn Covil earning himself a yellow card and conceding a free-kick which was parried but only to Brooks who coolly tucked in the rebound.
