WEYMOUTH legend Ashley Wells has announced his exit from the Terras.
Wells brings to an end a 10-year stay at the Bob Lucas Stadium, during which time he was club captain.
Playing a key role in the Southern Premier South play-off and title-winning campaigns in 2017/18 and 2018/19, Wells found opportunities hard to come by last season.
Wells was loaned out to rivals Dorchester and Wimborne in 2019/20 but did play in Weymouth's 4-2 Dorset Senior Cup final win over the Magpies in March.
He joins fellow defender Stephane Zubar in leaving the Terras after the Guadaloupe international announced his retirement.
Wells described Weymouth as an "incredible place to play" in an emotional statement on social media.
"10 years together but wow it has flown by," he said.
"Unfortunately my time at Weymouth has come to an end. I just want to say thank you to everyone who took me in and made me feel at home, it's an incredible place to play your football.
"The fans are the craziest but best I've ever met and will always back their players.
"I thank you for the love you have showed me in my 10 years and you all know the love I have for you all and this great club.
"The memories we have made and the things we have achieved wouldn't (have) been possible without you all - back-to-back promotions, winning the league or staying up last game of the season.
"Players past and present, people I've met through this club has been amazing.
"I wish the club all the best for their new venture. I know you will do well with the squad that is here.
"For now it's goodbye but I hope to see you all again and hope I'll be associated with this great club once again.
"Always a fan and will always love this great club.
"Love, Ash.
"Mr Weymouth."
Weymouth will hold a testimonial for Wells at the end of the season.
The Terras said: "WFC wishes to place on record its sincerest thanks and best wishes to Ash who leaves the club a rightful Weymouth legend.
"Ash and his family will always be held in the highest regard by the club and no doubt by you the fans as well.
"We thank Ash for all his hard work and dedication over the years and he can look back on his time with us with immense pride and satisfaction.
"The Board of Directors have seen it fit to award Ash a testimonial game at the Bob Lucas at the end of the season in the hope that fans will be able to attend and recognise his accomplishments.
"Thank you Ash and we wish you and your family the very best of luck in the future."
