WEYMOUTH Wildcats co-promoter Martin Peters is looking forward to the new season beginning when they face a trip to Milton Keynes in the Midland and Southern Development League tonight.
James Jessop will be the one familiar face for the Wildcats, who will be bolstered by new signings Jacob Clouting, James Laker and Cesca Kirtley-Paine for the trip to Milton Keynes.
Peters reflected: “I had a little bit of time off over the winter, not much, probably a couple of months, and then Sam (Peters, son)has been training here, there and everywhere so I have not really kind of stopped for the last few months.
“I am looking forward to the new season coming round, getting to Poole as well, which means I will not be getting home at one, I’ll be able to get home at 11 which will be quite nice for a change.
“We have got three meetings in a very short space of time.
Referring to the longer trips, Peters added: “At least we get them out of the way.”
In the close season Weymouth were able to boast the announcement that they will be riding at the home of the Poole Pirates for the coming season.
The Wildcats were also beset by the departures of Jacob and Bailey Fellows, Luke Barnes and Jordan Bull, while Andrew Palmer, Peters’ son, Laker, Clouting and Kirtley Paine have joined.
After Milton Keynes, the Wildcats host them in the reverse fixture on Thursday, May 2 before visiting Stoke on May 4.
