ANDREW Palmer has signed for the Weymouth Wildcats, completing their line-up for the season less than a week after losing three riders.
The remarkable turnaround has seen James Laker, who is now captain, Jacob Clouting and Palmer all sign in the space of a week, joining Cesca Kirtley-Paine, James Jessop, now vice captain, and Jordan Bull.
Sam Peters, son of co-promoter Martin Peters, is old enough to compete and could be used if needed.
Co-promoter James Tresadern said: “To get everyone within a week or so is exceptional work.
“Andrew won the Chesil Radio Invitational that we did last season, the first meeting we held, so we know his quality and we know what he can do.
“He is only 19 so he is one to watch as well as Jacob (Clouting) and James Laker.”
Tresadern hopes the squad can battle for honours at the end of the season.
Tresadern said: “I am hoping with those three, if we can get all of those three in a team we will score some decent points.
“We don’t think of the points on the board, we think of the development.
“It is nice to have close-run meetings rather than one-sided.
“We are hoping to frighten a few people and be battling for some honours at the end of the season.”
