WEYMOUTH WILDCATS 7
READING Racers condemned Weymouth Wildcats to a winless Southern Development League campaign following a 17-7 loss on Saturday.
Jacob Fellows was the high water mark for the Wildcats as he earned two second-placed finishes to earn four points, while James Laker secured a second place and a third to secure a further three points.
It was a frustrating end to a frustrating season with the Wildcats unable to name their full team again, and in a further blow the meeting was halted early as the curfew neared.
In what Wildcats’ co-promoter Martin Peters described as ‘the curse of the Wildcats’ the visitors were beset by issues with the bikes that played havoc with the Wildcats’ riders.
Peters said: “It was always going to be hard.
“A few things happened so it could have been a little bit closer, what happened happened I suppose.
“We have got a little saying it is the curse of the Wildcat.
“It always seems to keep striking and things keep going wrong.
“James Laker had a bike issue, in one of the races his fuel pipe came off.”
