CHICKERELL under-15s fought a successful final day must-win battle to be crowned champions of Division Two of the Dorset Youth League.
Their final league match against Lilliput required the Chickens to win as Gillingham Youth, who had already played all their league matches, were two points ahead at the top of the table.
After a nervy start confidence was resumed with a great strike by star striker Troy Walbridge and from there on in the hosts dominated the match throughout.
A further goal added by Morgan Coleman and a customary headed goal by skipper Henri Cox to make it 3-0 put the result beyond doubt and Chickerell eventually finished the match as champions winning 5-1.
The team, who are sponsored by King Edwards Fish & Chips formerly The Sea Chef, have predominantly remained with the same players and have gone from strength to strength in the past three seasons, coming from the bottom of Division Three to Division Two champions and a chance to play their last season in the highest Dorset Youth League Division.
They have dominated throughout the season with their free-flowing attacking style and defeated several teams in cup matches and friendlies who played in the higher division.
Next season Chickerell say they are relishing the challenge in Division One and are optimistic of a good finish come the end of the season.
