GREAT Britain Poomsae Taekwondo star Thomas Carney is hoping that funds generated from a raffle will enable him to keep pace with a nationwide training programme.
Carney, 15, belongs to Weymouth and Dorchester Taekwondo Club and is presently ranked fourth in the country. Earlier this year he moved from cadets under-14 level to under-17 standard, travelling all over the country.
Carney is aiming to raise funds for upcoming competitions in Scotland, Portugal, Sheffield and Nottingham plus a training camp in Manchester.
The youngster is seeking extra cash due to a busy GB calendar, which places great importance on attending all training sessions. Prizes in the raffle include hampers donated from Morrisons and Tesco, Weymouth Rib Charter tickets, Farmer Palmer’s tickets and cinema tickets. Raffle tickets can be purchased from Thomas’ Facebook page, Weymouth and Dorchester Taekwondo Club or Boots Pharmacy on Abbotsbury Road.
Talented teenager Carney is also searching for sponsors to assist with the cost of his jam-packed schedule.
