JURASSIC Coast Girls’ Football Club held their annual Girls’ Football Festival at 3D Health & Fitness, Wey Valley School.
More than 30 different teams took part, including the host club and local teams from Weymouth, Chickerell, Bridport and Poole.
There were also clubs that travelled from further afield such as Middlesex, Hertfordshire, Gloucestershire and Plymouth, many spending a short break in the area staying at local camp sites, guest houses and hotels.
Club chairman, Nathan Wood said: “As the area’s only dedicated girls’ football club we felt it
was important to deliver a real festival of football that celebrated all that is good about the female game.
“All the matches were played in a fantastic spirit and the camaraderie among the like-minded clubs that attended and also the club officials was fantastic to
see.
“I would like to thank all the parents, committee members, helpers and referees that helped us run such a smooth event.
“I would also like to thank our sister club Yeovil Town Ladies who added to our event, with striker and England beach soccer international Lucy Quinn and general manager Trevor Jenkins not only attending, but also getting stuck in, helping with refereeing, presenting medals and acting as touchline marshals.
“Although the day was all about the football, it was also testament to everyone’s efforts that we also raised some much-needed funds for the club too, some of which will help towards the cost of the club’s end-of-season tour to Cardiff.”
