PORTESHAM Primary School pupil Jess Moggeridge is set to take part in the Table Tennis National Championships (under-10 to 13-year-olds) in Kettering on Saturday.
The youngster qualified for the under-11 event thanks to her national ranking of eighth in the girls’ age group category.
Moggeridge has played an important part in Weymouth’s strong showing in the National Cadet League for the last two seasons.
Making her debut aged just nine, the youngster featured in the top division last season, gaining invaluable experience and picking up a few notable victories along the way.
Moggeridge has also travelled across the south to venues such as Plymouth, Horsham and Slough, playing in under-13 and under-15 events with some success.
Weymouth coach Andy Millar praised the youngsters' efforts. He said: “I remember being invited into IPACA Osprey Campus to deliver introductory table tennis sessions and Jess immediately impressed.
“Her enthusiasm, motivation and dedication to training and improving is an inspiration to others in what can be achieved in such a short time."
n Weymouth are looking for new players aged eight and upwards to join their boys' and girls' squads next season. For more information, contact Andy Millar on a.millar212@gmail.com or 07710507075.
