SEABOROUGH trainer Harry Fry and jockey Noel Fehily combined to land the 188Bet Handicap Chase with 9-1 chance Shuil Royale.
The 11-year-old was being pressed by teenage Irish raider Your Busy at the final fence, but stayed on all the way to the line to claim the veterans’ prize by five lengths.
Speaking about the success on his official website, Fry said: “Shuil Royale rolled back the years with a decisive success in a valuable veterans’ chase at Aintree on Sunday to the delight of his owner Phil Fry.
“Life can be tough for consistent handicappers at his stage of life. But he remains so enthusiastic about his racing and was winning for the tenth time on a career high mark at the age of 11.”
Fry added: “He travelled well throughout, led three fences out and looked set for a clear-cut success until idling briefly approaching the last.
“Another fine jump there sealed victory for Shuil Royale who ran on strongly all the way to the line to beat the Irish raider Your Busy by five lengths.
“It was a stirring triumph by the oldest horse in our team.
“Ground conditions are in his favour at the moment so he could well tackle another veterans’ chase at Sandown in a fortnight if the dry spell continues.”
