WEYMOUTH Under-14s got to experience winning a match at the Bob Lucas Stadium as they beat Wimborne Town 2-1 on Easter Sunday.
Theo Sadeghi headed in Josh Howell’s a corner to give the Terras the lead.
Wimborne equalised from the spot before Daniel Henman slotted the winner home for the hosts.
This was Weymouth’s last home match of the season and many supporters turned up to watch the team.
They started the game well only for the referee to call the players off after a sudden hailstorm.
The shower soon passed and the players were back on keen to play.
It was an evenly-matched game with plenty of action at both ends.
Weymouth took the lead midway through the first half with a header from Theo Sadeghi following a corner from Josh Howell.
Exciting play followed and Wimborne drew level from the penalty spotafter being awarded a penalty.
The winning goal came from Daniel Henman who burst forward before calmly finishingith a burst of pace down the right flank and he calmly placed the ball home.
Wimborne finished the game strongly but were unable to find the equalising goal.
The Under-14s next big test is in the County Cup final on Sunday, April 17 at King George V Playing Fields, Ferndown (2.30pm) against Branksome.
Weymouth won the Under-13 County Cup last year and are hoping to repeat last season’s success.
