I OFTEN walk my dog in the cemetery and crematorium grounds off Abbotsbury Road in Weymouth.
About two months ago, I realised that, at the top end of the cemetery, there's a telegraph pole with what appears to be an old siren on the top of it.
I've emailed the local councillors, and spoken to the local council, and done some research online.
The general consensus seems to be that the siren was used in a 1980s flood warning system, but the type of siren seems to be a 1940s/50s WW2 or cold war air raid siren.
Do any Weymouth residents know any more about this siren? Or are there any local historical societies who might be able to help me?
