SUE Masters, nee Hames, of Dorchester sent in this lively photograph of a Coronation street party in June 1953.
The event was held by residents of Ackerman Street in the county town and the huge celebration cake in the centre of the top table was made by Sue’s mother Dorothy, who decorated it with a coach and horses.
Sue is pictured at the top table – she is the little girl looking to her left at her sister Ann, who is sporting a pointy hat.
Also pictured is the mayoress, Mrs Hallett.
Sue’s mother Dorothy is pictured standing next to the mayoress, who is wearing a cream beret. Sue’s aunt Myrtle is pictured at the far right of the photograph, wearing a light coloured skirt and dark cardigan.
Ann went on to marry Brian Cake, who is pictured wearing a little flat hat in front of Auntie Myrtle. The little girl pictured at the front of the picture holding on to her chair is Pauline Napper – who went on to marry David Old of the garage company.
Sue said: “I still see a few of the people from the party because I still live in Dorchester and so do they.
“It was a lovely day and we all had a lovely time. I can remember it so clearly even though so many years have passed by.”
