A WEYMOUTH School has unveiled its new IT suite, which was funded with money raised from two music festivals.
All Saints School, Wyke Regis, has unveiled the state of the art IT suite which was opened with money from the All Saints Music and Art Festivals that were held over the last two years.
The festivals were put on by the Friends of All Saints School Association (FASSA) to raise money for the suite.
This year’s festival, which took part in September raised £7,500 to go towards the suite with various other FASSA events also raising money for the suite.
2014’s festival also raised more than £5,000 to be given to the school.
Representatives from FASSA and headteacher Kevin Broadway were all delighted to officially unveil the suite.
Kim Newstead, the vice-chairman of FASSA, said: “We just really want to say thank you to the people that supported the festivals.
“The money from the two festivals made that happen.”
This year’s event saw performances from Dr Strangebrew, Blazin’ Strings, the Weymouth Ukuleleans and more entertain crowds.
Help from local Scout groups and the Wyke Regis WI also made sure the event was a success.
The event turned out to be such a big hit that the barbecue and the beer and cider both sold out.
Plans are already underway to organise next year’s festival.
Kim also wanted to give special mention to the performers for playing part free of charge.
She said: “Everyone performed for nothing so were able to raise the £20,000 for the room.
“They all gave up so much time and made such an effort.”
Kim and FASSA chair Natalie-anne Scott both wanted to thank FASSA member Amanda Dunning who put so much work in to organising the festival.
Headteacher at All Saints School, Kevin Broadway wanted to pass on his thanks to FASSA for helping to contribute positively to the school.
He said: “They created a great festival for the school and it is great that people enjoyed themselves while raising the money.”
FASSA is a parent organisation which works together with the school to raise funds to purchase items that might not otherwise be bought for the pupils.
Other events they organise include quiz nights and charity auctions and also help the school by providing refreshments at parent’s evenings and concerts.
