BLANDFORD pupils enjoyed a trip of a lifetime to Bulgaria.
Four pupils at Knighton House and two staff members travelled to the small town of Parvomay in Bulgaria as part of an international project.
Knighton House is involved in the two-year Comenius project ‘EUniting Voices’, funded by the European Union, which aims to promote awareness of the importance of cultural and linguistic diversity within Europe.
It gives many children the chance to travel, make friends with other European people and learn about their customs and cultures.
The Blandford school joins staff and pupils from nine other European countries who each take turns to host schools from other countries.
Their most recent visit took them to Parvomay, a quiet modern town two hours away from the capital Sofia, where the school had a total of 650 children.
Pupils were able to immerse themselves in Bulgarian life for the week, where they attended lessons at the school in the day and returned home to a host family to enjoy a meal.
They also travelled to the city Plovdid, and were treated to a special celebration at the end of the week when each family in the school cooked a traditional meal and the children performed a play for the guests to enjoy.
Knighton House will be hosting the final of all the visits when they welcome pupils from all nine of the participating countries next June.
