VOLUNTEERING in charity shops may not sound like many people’s idea of a holiday.
But for Lenka Hajkova, who was visiting Dorchester from the Czech Republic, it was a memorable way to spend her time in England.
Lenka spent time at a number of shops during her volunteering holiday and vowed to bring back a lot to her home country.
She spent time with Oxfam, Age UK, the British Heart Foundation and Cry during her stay.
Lenka is a keen volunteer who works with the ADRA (Adventist Development Relief Agency) in the Czech Republic.
She has helped raise a significant amount during her time there to go towards basic clothing and domestic items for people on low incomes.
Lenka, 31, said it had been an eye-opening experience working in the various charity shops and said she had also enjoyed spending time in Dorchester.
She said: “I have been enjoying it because I wanted to get some experience with charity shops in England and practice my English.
“It’s very different but I like it here.”
