CATTISTOCK Church ‘Harvest Festival Weekend’ begins on Saturday, September 15. There will be a jazz concert by the Sunset Café Stompers in the church at 7.30pm.

You are invited to build your own scarecrow and erect it in the churchyard by Saturday lunchtime. Make sure your scarecrow has the means to stand up, either with a stake or something to sit on. They will be on show until Monday. For more details, please ring 01300 320249.

On Sunday, September 16 there will be a festival service, followed by a sale of harvest produce. Please bring contributions of harvest items to church on Saturday morning.

There will also be a Harvest ‘bring and share’ lunch in the Savill Hall. Please bring a plate of food to pool and share. Drinks will be provided. For more information, please ring 01300 320384 MELBURY Men’s Breakfast – the next meeting takes place on Saturday, September 15, when the guest speakers will be Chris Amos and Sol Balbero. They will be talking about new chances for street kids in Manilla.

Meetings are held at the Southern Counties Shooting Club on Wardon Hill, starting at 8.30am and finishing around 9.45am. The cost of breakfast is £6. There is a vegetarian option for those who require it and for those who would prefer not to have a cooked breakfast, there is a cereal, toast and fruit juice option. Please indicate your preference when booking.

CATTISTOCK residents can now have access to Neighbourhood Watch notices that have been issued by the police, giving advice on security or information about crimes in the area.

The letters will be displayed on the notice board in the bus shelter and updated on a regular basis.

IMPACT is a series of Ladies’ Lunches. Come along and enjoy an informal lunch in stimulating company and explore the impact of the Christian faith in the lives of a diverse range of speakers.

The next lunch is on Thursday, September 20, when Jill Perryman will speak about her experiences in China in a talk entitled ‘Life with a Purpose’.

The lunch this time will take place in Halstock Village Hall at 12.30pm. A donation of £5 is suggested.

THE LADIES Thursday Group will welcome Ruth Archer at their meeting on Thursday, September 27.

She will be talking about her time nursing in Papua New Guinea. Ruth had a huge responsibility, often working on her own as nurse and doctor.

Everyone is most welcome on that evening, in Bradford Peverell Village Hall at 7.30pm.
