THE atmosphere was electric in the Nothe as Team GB sailed away with two medals.
Crowds carpeting the grassy banks clapped and cheered their support for the British sailors who won silver in both races.
Olympic windsurfer Nick Dempsey was at the viewing site to support his teammates.
He said: “I enjoyed the boy’s race but not so much the girl’s.
“The boys did really well but unfortunately for the girls they took them off the start and carried them off to the far side.
“The girls did great in the pre-start and then got unlucky.
“Silver is amazing but I think they will be upset.”
Hannah Mills ’ family said they were really proud of the amazing achievement in getting silver.
Uncle Charles Cameron said: “I thought in the pre-start the girls did really well and then they got boxed in and it became obvious they were on the wrong side and there was nothing they could do.”
Lorna Cameron, Mills’ aunt, said: “A silver medal is an amazing achievement, we’re all really proud.”
There was a lot of celebrating in the Nothe after both team’s success.
Anita Tipping, from Honiton, Somerset, said: “It was fantastic, the atmosphere was amazing up here.
“It was great that it didn’t matter who you’re supporting, everyone was supporting each other.”
