VIEWERS became part of the artwork in an experiment fusing science and music.

The project, called Danceroom Spectroscopy invited members of the public to become part of the art by dancing and watching as their movements were translated into abstract images and music in the dome outside the Weymouth Pavilion .

Artist David Glowacki said the project was inspired by the work of physicists.

He said: “Scientists talk about how stuff moves, and I wanted to show how humans can mirror the movement of particles. We invite people into the tent, and how many there are on the floor, and how fast they are moving effects the images on the screen and the tempo of the music.”

He added that as many as 200 people had been in the tent at the height of the event at the dance festival.

Members of the public were invited into the tent to experiment with movement, and the event also included workshops and a performance by trained dancers.

Mr Glowacki added: “The performance is something really spectacular, because the dancers understand what effect their movement will have, and they use that.

“But it’s also nice seeing people come and enjoy this.”
